Avoiding stress: Sylvia E.

With Sylvia E., a 33 year old, sales clerk, the onset of MS was indicated by a tingling in the legs and arms. She has had no further attacks since 1996. Her motto is to live as normally as possible. She is fully involved at work, and she likes to treat herself on holidays. During those most pleasurable weeks of the year she wants to try and not think about her disease and the course it might take.

The disease doesn’t cause many problems for me yet. Nevertheless, I’ll do without taking a vacation in Kenya. I don’t want to risk the side effects of the necessary vaccinations. It’s my dream to fly to the Caribbean Islands some day, though, and vaccinations are not necessary to go there.

For me, vacation means relaxation and avoiding all stress. In hotels I appreciate a friendly atmosphere and helpful reception personnel. I prefer to choose perfectly normal hotels and have no problem asking the cook to provide low-calorie meals and skimmed milk at breakfast. This way I simply feel better.
