I’ve taken a break off employment/study since my diagnosis a year ago. Never really got into the workforce at all to begin with, and prior to that I was studying for 6years.
My question is- has anybody ever been able to enter or reenter the workforce after dealing with this condition?
Does anybody in here engage themselves in some type of paid work? What is better- abstaining from work altogether, or eventually aiming at work? Should I even be thinking about work? Or should I stay on the pension
I am in the same situation as you. I am just waiting for MRI to confirm MS, but the Dr. is sure it is. I don’t know if I will be able to goto work either. My best friend has had MS for the past 20 years and she is working. I also knew a lady when I was a child who had MS and she was a nurse, she worked up till it got to hard for her. So I say it would have to depend on your systoms and your treatment. Good luck
Where are you in this wide world? Would you mind if I added you to my friends list?

Hi! I’m an architect from Brazil. Sorry for my poor English! I think if you are able to work, recognize your limit (if you have one) and do it! It’s the best way to put your disease in the right place. It’s part of your life not your life. Good luck!

I too wondered about that..wanted to do something beside sit and veg out...so I started my own business!!! I make and sell my own candles and accessories...its gives me extra money, a way to express my creativity..and when I am not felling well...it’s OK...I take a couple of days off and start back again...if at sompoint in time I loose my legs and are unable to walk..it OK...still got my hands...so yo my want to explore that possibility
Hi I was diagnosed in August this year and couldn’t work because of tiredness and eyesight problems. I have since improved and was going crazy at home by myself while everyone else was at work! Have started back at 2 hours a day and it has done wonders for my confidence which was knocked right out of me.
Also, I have the same situation/conditions!! I’m SONY service Manager in my country, last year I achieved the “Excellant Improvement” award, and last Jun. 007 I got “Bronze” Award (84 countries were in contest), working for 14 Hrs as a daily average / 6 days/week. Got married after DXD, have 2 kids, And as I’m a professional photographer, my next personal target a photo exhibition, My friends, wellness is a state of mind!
Hi! I´m Raquel from Portugal. I had my diagnosis in my birthay day, in 2002. I´m 33 years old, got 2 babys, 4 years and 7 months. I´m a social worker, got no job since December 2005. I would like so much to work! Best wishes
I am 27. I lost my job when my boss found out that I have MS. In my country, people are really rasists. I have only a pension as an income. I am a student at a private school where I learn manicure, pedicure, make-up, hair dressing....I’ve decided that I will make my own bussiness where no one will show pitty on me and no one will ever again have the chance to fire me because I’m not healthy. You see, in Greece, there are several benefits when you are a patient. I’m considered to be a person of special needs. So, I had the benefit of taking a 20% raise on my salary plus 2 months extra vacation....My boss didn’t like to pay me for that....So, I think you should start your life again by giving yourself a chance to find your way
