I am looking to connect with other MS patients who have family members with other neurological disorders (Tourette Syndrome or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).
There seems to be a genetic link in my family - interested in learning from other families with similar situation.
Hi there, I have ms & it’s funny to read your comment because I also have two friends with ms & the three of us alway reckon we are obsessive about everything being just right & have so often talked about if there could be a link between the two disorders.
Thank you for your reply - I would like to know if either you or your friends were diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - and how disabling it was in your life.
My family Dr. thought I was a hypochondriac and really didn’t take my MS symptoms seriously for years - and given my OCD history, I understand this must have been difficult as a Dr. who has not experienced many patients with OCD. Eventually I was seen by a nurologist and confirmed MS - my family Dr. was empathetic and revealed I was her first MS patient - so it was a learning process for her as a physician.
Do you (and please ask your MS/OCD friends) find that you are very "in-tune" with your bodies. I find that my sensitivities with having OCD makes me very aware of changes in my body - some people just are not in tune with their bodies and changes going on (if you understand what I mean). It’s like intuition - a keen sense of yourself - but some people would see this as being obsessive/compulsive.
