“Life is beautiful. It is great to be alive, no matter what life throws at me.”

Age: 37
Hometown: Istanbul, Turkey
Onset of symptoms: 2002
First symptoms experienced: Weakness of the legs and dizziness
Diagnosed: 2002
Started treatment: 2004

Kürsat was at home fixing his wardrobe when he began to feel dizzy and weak. Worried, he went to see a neurologist. After a series of tests over four months, Kürsat was diagnosed with MS.

The diagnosis left Kürsat feeling lonely and stressed. When the treatment his neurologist prescribed didn’t improve his symptoms, Kürsat decided it was time to take control of his health care and insisted on getting a second opinion. “My new doctor changed my prescription and gave me advice on how to minimize the long-term effects of MS.”

Determined to keep his life on track, Kürsat took steps to simplify it. At the time, he was managing three media companies. “Running them just became too much for me, so instead I now work for one company.” Kürsat also works from home, allowing him more freedom and time to spend with his nine-year-old twin sons.

Since then, Kürsat has remarried and is looking forward to settling down with his new family while living his life to the fullest. He firmly believes that continued treatment will help him keep his symptoms in control and his life on track.
