A Guide to Common Neurological Examinations
MS today vs. yesterday
Misdiagnosis of MS used to be quite common, and many physicians were required to watch the disease for long periods before they could confidently offer a diagnosis. Because more than 90% of people with MS have lesions that are visible on an MRI scan or changes in the CSF analysis, these techniques have enabled the medical community to diagnose MS much more accurately and quickly in the majority of cases. However, sometimes the signs and symptoms can be so subtle that it is not possible to confirm the diagnosis of MS for a long period of time. Nonetheless, the accuracy of MS diagnosis is quite high today. With earlier diagnosis treatments can be given more quickly to modify the impact of MS on daily life.
